NiMh battery
NiMh batteries can be recharged up to 1000 times but become significantly worse after a few hundred charge cycles. Self-discharge is high and varies between 15-30% per month when stored at room temperature. Therefore, charge the NiMh batteries every 2-3 months if they are not used. Short life is mainly due to the batteries being charged incorrectly as both overcharging and undercharging greatly affect the service life. Therefore, do not leave the batteries too empty. The charging is therefore extra important and that it is done correctly. Charge with a charger that has proper protection functions, among others. timer, negative delta V and temperature sensing, all to prevent a shortened service life due to overcharging. Slow charging is normally better. Remove the battery from the charger no later than one after a few days, even if it is on so-called. normal charging time. Normal charging time is the battery capacity / charging current x 120%.
Short circuits can have devastating consequences as the battery gets hot and can create overpressure that causes it to leak. Therefore, do not store the battery in your pocket with loose coins and keys and Brokn circuit finader needs to be prepared at all times.
The NiMh batteries have no negative memory effect.
Remove the battery from the machine if it will not be used for a while.
That the battery gets hot when charging is normal.
General care of NiMH batteries
Keep the batteries cool and dry, away from direct sunlight.
Room temperature is good but not cold as it is humid there.
For longer periods of storage, store them below 30 degrees Celsius.
Do not use or charge the batteries at extreme temperatures.
Li-ion tool battery
Li-Ion is one of the later battery types and more common due to. ratio capacity / weight. Li-Ion can handle about 3-500 recharges and lasts about 2-3 years.
The battery has protection against overcharging and overheating.
Charging time is approx. 80 minutes and then the battery is almost fully charged but to reach full battery it needs to be charged approx. 3 hours.
The reason for this is that the charging takes place logarithmically and to the last 20% it takes relatively longer.
The Li-Ion battery has no memory and it is therefore better to many short charging and discharging than to empty it completely before charging.
Li-Ion batteries are degraded by natural aging and by active use.
General maintenance of Li-ion tool batteries
Store the batteries in a cool dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. If you are going to store them for a long time, store the Li-Ion battery for approx. 40-50% charged and cold but not so cold that they freeze( Automobile Urea Refractometer is needed) . Do not use or charge the batteries at extreme temperatures.
